Public Art Policy & Strategy

I am the author of multiple comprehensive public art and civic art policies, council reports, and implementation strategies. My current projects include:

  • Merri-bek City Council – Authoring the Public Art and Collections Policy

  • Wyndham City Council – Authoring the Public Art and Collections Policy, Developer Guidelines, Terms of Reference, and a Site Selection Matrix to guide future public art commissioning.

Previous major policy development work includes:

  • City of Greater Dandenong – Authored the Public Art Policy and an in-depth Consultation Report to support community-responsive planning.

  • Brimbank City Council – Renewal of both the Art Acquisition Policy and Public Art Policy, and the establishment of robust governance frameworks for public art.

  • Knox City Council – Authored the Public Art Policy and Implementation Plan (2018), and the Civic Art Collection Management Policy. I also led the integration of public art into Council’s planning scheme and project scoping templates, and successfully secured funding through a percent-for-art scheme, developer contributions, and partnerships.

  • City of Casey – Authored the Public Art Developer Kit and Guidelines, and authored the Public Art Collection Deaccession Report, Maintenance Plan, and Maintenance Schedule.

  • Manningham City Council – Art Collection Policy

Governance & Best Practice Advisory

I have previously introduced best practice governance frameworks for the management of public art at:

  • Yarra Ranges Council

  • Brimbank City Council

  • Knox City Council

This has included the establishment of clear terms of reference for public art advisory panels and collection management procedures, ensuring alignment with national standards and local priorities.

  • Maroondah Council – Member Arts Advisory Council, key contributor to Maroondah 2040 (Council Plan), Maroondah Arts and Cultural Plan.
